Queen's Race Candidates Biographies

 

 

hollis

Anna Elizabeth Hollis
Representing Beta Sigma Phi, this Harmony High School senior is the daughter of Jan Hollis.  She has two brothers, Thomas and Gabriel, and is the granddaughter of Art and Ann Searcy. She plans to attend Texas A & M and study business management and hopes to own and operate a pet shop in the future. 
Miss Hollis’ busy schedule includes track, varsity cheerleading, class secretary, Beta Club, Key Club, Art Club, student council, FFA member and officer.  She was a member of the 2007 State Champion Junior Chapter Conducting Team. 
She enjoys running, playing with her dogs, shopping and movies.  She admires her Paw Paw because he has done so many interesting things and is always there to support her and our troops because they continue to fight for our freedom regardless of the struggles our country is facing.

 

hodges

Lacy Nicole Hodges
The Bluebonnet Club is proud to have Lacy Nicole Hodges as their representative.  She is the daughter of Riley and Patti Hodges and Cindy Hodges and has two sisters, Lauren and Leslie.  Her grandparents are Wanda Simon, Kenneth and Lou Ella Hodges and James Buddy Camp and Nelda Camp.
Miss Hodges was named MVP Defensive All-District and first team All-District in Volleyball, All-American Cheerleader two years, All-State Academics, class president, National Honor Society and Key Club member. 
She hopes to go to college on a volleyball scholarship to become a neonatal nurse.  Her school of choice is Texas State University.

Elizabeth Marie Williams
A senior at Gilmer High School and representing the Kiwanis Club, Elizabeth is the daughter of Linda and Tullos Williams, Jr.  She has two sisters, Lyndsey and Sarah and is the granddaughter of Laura and Tullos Williams, Sr. and Janet Whitehead.
Miss Williams is a very busy young lady with her involvement in National Honor Society, volleyball, and select volleyball.  Spending time with family and friends, sports activities, drawing, and movies are among her favorite leisure activities. Elizabeth plans to attend UT Tyler and pursue a career in sonography.
Her philosophy of life is to stay on the right path with God and to try to be the best person she can be every day.

Marketa Lashay Brown
Marketa, the daughter of Marcos and Latosha Brown, is a senior at Gilmer High School who is representing the Iris Garden Club.  Her siblings are Derek McKenzie and Aaron Brown and her grandparents are Harold and Doris Hagler and Johnny and Dorothy Brown.
Miss Brown’s ambition in life is to attend SFA and become a social worker for Child Protective Services.  Some of her activities include going to church, basketball, track, Avid, and helping others.
She feels that her life is good and that if she perseveres, keeps a positive attitude and always carries herself in a respectful manner she can be whatever she would like to be.

Kaitlyn Blair Tackett
Representing the Gilmer Lions Club is Kaitlyn Blair Tackett, a senior at Gilmer High School.  Her parents are Mike and Karin Tackett, and her siblings are Kamden and Kenley.  Her grandparents are Mary and Jim Tackett, Blair Poole and J.W. Floyd.  Her great grandparents are Loraine Wilburn and the late Elton F. Wilburn.
Miss Tackett’s busy schedule includes First Baptist youth group, dance and dance instruction with children, Stars Drill Team, FFA, Key Club, National Honor Society, Celebration leader for children’s ministries, and youth drama team.
She hopes to never be satisfied with the complacency of life, but to seek more than is expected and expand her knowledge in every area of life.  She plans to attend Texas A & M pursuing a degree in safety management.

Colin Elizabeth Coleman
The Rotary Club is proud to have Colin Elizabeth Coleman as their representative.  She is the daughter of John and Amy McWhorter and Todd and Christy Coleman.  Her siblings are Riley Coleman and Kaylin McWhorter and her grandparents are James and Jeanne Johnson and Ron and Carol Coleman.
Miss Coleman is a senior at Gilmer High School, where she plays volleyball, softball, and track and cheerleading.  She was named Academic All-State in volleyball and softball.  She is in the top 5% of her class, a member of the Key Club, National Honor Society, served as class secretary and Student Ambassador Alumni.
She believes that every day is a new day and you should take life one day at a time.  She plans to attend Texas A & M majoring in Biology then following up with medical school.

 

hudson

Lindsey Jordan Hudson
A senior at Gilmer High School and representing the Twentieth Century Club, Lindsey is the daughter of Pat and Thomas Wright and Brenda and Keith Ford. She has a sister Rebecca and step-brother John Paul Ford. Grandparents are Kay and Jack Fuqua and Darlene and Mack Hoel.
Miss Hudson has been a Regional qualifier in track all through high school and a dancer for 10 years.  She has participated in the Yamboree Coronation/Pageant for four years.  She spends her leisure time listening to music, dancing and running and plans to attend Texas Tech University or the University of Texas majoring in Kinesiology.
Her philosophy is “work will win when wishing won’t”.  She feels that just wishing for something to happen won’t make it happen.  You must get up and make it happen if you want it bad enough.  Waiting around will get you nowhere in life.  It will only produce “what if’s” and “could have been’s”.
