Yamboree Homecanning

Rules

1. Entries will be accepted in both Adult and Youth Categories.

2. All entries must have been canned this year 2008. Entries must be in standard canning jars (no mayonnaise, syrup, etc.), in good condition, free from rust, dents, or other defects. Ball or Kerr and Mason new two piece lid and ring must be used. All jars should be clean and free of dust and rust. Any entry not canned in standard canning jars will be disqualified. Jam and Jelly type products cannot be sealed with paraffin wax.

3. If jars are labeled, labels should be small and contain only product name and date.

4. Entries will be checked in Wednesday, October 15th, from 2-5 p.m. at the Yamboree Exhibit Building. You will be asked to fill out judging tags for each jar entered. No entries will be accepted later than 5:00 p.m. October 16th.

5. Judging will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon on Thursday October 18th. Ribbons placed on all jars by 1:00 p.m. for viewing. Best of Show pictures will be taken on Friday, October 17th, 2006 at 3:00 p.m.

6. No products will be tasted due to food safety recommendations.

7. All entries will be on display at the Yamboree Exhibit Building through Saturday, October 18th. All entries are to be picked up between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday October 18th. No Exceptions, please.

8. Entries not picked up on Saturday between 4-5 p.m. will be taken to the Upshur County Extension Office, located in the Courthouse Room 107 in Gilmer. If not picked up in 30 days after the close of the Yamboree, they will be disposed.

All awards from Alltrista are mailed directly from Alltrista to winners. All awards and ribbons from the Yamboree Association will be presented on Saturday of the Yamboree to all winners.
