Shayne Wilson is very pleased to serve as the 79th president of the East Texas Yamboree. After growing up and attending school in Florida, he moved to Gilmer in 1981. He has made Gilmer his home for three and a half decades. Continually active in his community, Shayne currently
serves on the Yamboree board, the board of directors for the Gilmer Civic Center Improvement foundation, and the Gilmer Area Chamber of Commerce board. He has served as president of his service organization and has served on the Longview Board of Realtors. He was Vice President of marketing and sales for Ditto Group Incorporated for 26 years and has sold real estate at Coldwell Banker Lenhart located on the square in Gilmer since 2008. He enjoys helping others make Gilmer their home.
Shayne is married to Felisha Wilson, 8th grade teacher at Gilmer Bruce Junior High. Both of his children, Evin Wilson and Shaylee Wilson Engle, attended Gilmer ISD and graduated from Gilmer High School. They both attended and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University. Shayne enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife Felisha, son Evin, daughter in law Lindi, daughter Shaylee, son in law James, and his beautiful granddaughters Aniston and Blaire Engle.
Shayne said some of his fondest memories involve the Yamboree and his family. From his first Yamboree to his most recent, Shayne agrees that the Yamboree brings families together, the community together, and allows visitors to experience the beauty of East Texas. There is something here for everyone. Welcome to our community and our home. We hope you enjoy all of your experiences at this year’s East Texas Yamboree.
